Apprentices Shine at Bolton Business Awards

The Bolton News held their annual Bolton Business Awards on Thursday 27th September, and as a sponsor of the event, Stateside Foods provided the guest speakers – second year apprentices, Aimee Holden and Edward Halsall.

We sponsored the SME Business of the Year Award, which was presented to worthy winners, Handrail Creations, who are based in Burden Business Park. The firm, which creates bespoke handrails and products for some of the most prestigious building projects in Europe, won the Start-up Business Award back in 2015, and they were over the moon to recieve further recognition of their progress since then.

Our very own shining stars, Aimee and Edward, (in our opinion)stole the show, with their talk on apprenticeships and their importance to both businesses and young people. They highlighted some of the issues caused by negative opinions and misunderstanding surrounding apprenticeships, and gave their own views based on their own personal experiences. They presented the positives of apprenticeships, with the aim of encouraging more businesses to follow in Stateside Foods’ footsteps in recruiting new, talented young people and giving them the training, skills and qualifications to be part of the success story.

Following their speech to the guests at the awards ceremony, Aimee and Edward went on to present the Young Apprentice of the Year award to winner, Ellie Entwistle.

Eighteen-year-old Ellie started work at Bring Digital at the age of sixteen, as a Digital Marketing Apprentice. In just two years, she’s progressed through the ranks from apprentice to junior, and most recently, to a fully fledged Digital PR Executive. Ellie said, “It’s amazing, I’m so excited to be here, a bit overwhelmed.”

A BIG Congratulations to all the award winners!
