Freiberger – Our German Parent Company

We work together and follow the standards and procedures of our parent company. Additionally the businesses work closely together to ensure that the benefits of our cultural experiences are maximised.

Challenges

Over recent decades Freiberger has grown to be one of the world’s leading and most successful pizza manufacturers. The challenge is maintaining this position in a highly competitive market.

Stateside Foods work closely to improve awareness and understanding of the cultural differences between Freiberger (our parent) and Stateside Foods. Our objective is to maximise the benefit of our cultural differences and to bring together our wide and differing range of experiences, with the ultimate aim of enhancing business profitability.

Progress to Date

In 2003 Freiberger acquired Stateside Foods. At that time Stateside Foods was already a leading chilled pizza manufacturer in the UK.

Investment into Stateside Foods since its acquisition has been significant – at an industry-leading level, and has applied appropriate German Technology from the existing Freiberger sites. This has made Stateside Foods a major contender in the UK chilled pizza market.

Stateside Foods and Freiberger staff have close working relationships throughout the business at all levels.

Delivery Goals

Freiberger continues to support and invest in Stateside.

The Stateside Foods factories are the best in class within the UK, and are allowing the business to grow its market share.

Stateside Foods and Freiberger staff operate in cross-functional teams throughout the business, maximising the benefit of our business and cultural experiences. This is a recipe for integrated and effective management, and is a strong factor in the delivery of shareholder value.

Challenges

The industry is ever changing with new developments, legislation and health concerns.

Our customers have a tough challenge in keeping up with these changes and is therefore fundamental that we support them in this quest.

Progress to Date

We work closely with our customers, ensuring we fulfil the criteria of all of their policies and procedures. We ensure we remain proactive and are one step ahead in driving our business in an environment of trust and openness. We work together in driving down complaints, developing growth and marketing strategies to ensure that they are market aware of new food trends and that our product development reflects this.

We will continue to work as partners with our customers, to meet their requirements and develop suitable products for their customer base.

We see our suppliers as our partners.

Challenges

Collectively we work together to continually improve our processes, driving out any non value-added costs.

Progress to Date

We have a list of key suppliers who we consider to be critical to the development of our business. We have formed strategic partnerships with those suppliers to ensure that we are their customer of choice.

We work collaboratively with our key suppliers, who adhere to similar principles as ours – customer service, food safety, continuous improvement, ethical trading and an innovative approach.

We look to ensure that both parties are successful in delivering an ongoing improved service and strive to create long term relationships, where the vagaries of the market can be managed in partnership.

Industry

Working with the industry experts to keep one step ahead.

Challenges

The industry is fast moving and ever changing both in terms of consumer demand, and also with new technologies and food safety issues. Our desire is to continue to thrive in this environment. We can only do this by being involved in the debate.

Progress to Date

Stateside Foods keep up to date with all the key developments in the industry by being members of and being involved with various industry bodies such as Campden laboratories and the Institute of Grocery Distribution (IGD).

We work closely with the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) and are involved with several of our customers and the IGD in working parties on major industry issues.

As a part of a leading food group, Stateside Foods plays an active role in participating in Industry working groups and committees, with the aim of supporting and developing the industry.

We are a member of the Pizza and Pasta Association (PAPA) and are a key member of its technical forum.

Stateside Foods is committed to further involvement in the industry by being more active with industry bodies to ensure its voice is heard more clearly.
